a ragamuffin

a ragamuffin welcomes you . . .

I want to thank you for visiting our website during your busy day. If it is anything like our day, it is packed full to the brim. I say this is "our site" because I hope you will consider being a part of our family. When I was growing up I always wanted to be a part of whatever was going on. I always had to be around friends and I always had to have a girl friend---just to have someone to talk to.

a family's love

There is another reason why I call it "our site"---I have a fairly large family of a beautiful wife named Ginger, four daughters, two sons-in-law, and a grandson whom I don't get to see very often.  Over the years I have learned that my family is the most important part of my life.  I work hard and I have to remember to give them my time and to not focus so much on work.  I have never talked to an older person who wished they had spent more time working and not as much time with their family---it is always the other way around.

a drug addict

For many years I did not know how enjoyable a family could be.  I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. When my family was getting together for Christmas, or some other occasion, I was often too sick or too busy working to join them. That was the lie I told them.  The truth was if I wasn't stoned I was trying my best to get that way. Who would have thought that with my upbringing in a loving family that I would end up snorting over $200,000 worth of cocaine, being fired from several jobs, and turning into a real con artist? One thing for sure about a drug addict is that they will lie to anyone to get money to buy the drugs they want.

accepted . . . again

On April 25th, 1994, my daughter who was in the first grade said something that changed my life forever. Cindy said, "Daddy, I know you and Mommy don't do drugs." When I asked her why she said that she replied, "Because you're too smart and you've got kids." Someone told me one time that God will use children to save the lives of their parents. Do you believe that? I do now!

What should a mom and dad do to a son who was hooked on drugs, who had lied to them for years, and had duped them out of thousands of dollars to supply his addiction? I thank God often that they opened their arms and their home to me and then they thanked God for answering their prayers. For years they had known something was wrong with me, but they did not know what it was. It has been more than ten years since I had that last fix or drink and I owe my life to Jesus and my family.

someone you know

God has blessed me with several successful businesses, the family I spoke of earlier, and the love of Jesus that expands beyond any man’s comprehension.  I promised God that I would never pass up an opportunity to show others the love of Jesus and let them know that He can help them in any situation.

Maybe you know someone who might be having a problem with drugs, alcohol, or some other addiction. If you do please, give them my email address, aragamuffin@aragamuffin.org, I'd love to talk with them.  We have several ways to help those who are searching for a friend on our website at http://www.aragamuffin.org.

Again, thank you for visiting and now I would love to meet you. Please, drop me a line sometime. All inquiries are kept confidential.
