Most Christians Do Not Repent and Therefore Are Not in the Will of God
Sinners are not forgiven if they do not repent
Teachers, preachers, and authors will
be held accountable by God as most Christians are not in the will of God. I do not know the final outcome of their
eternity as that is between God and them.
But, I do know they are not in God’s will on a daily basis. “Father, please forgive me for not doing your
will and help me to do better,” is a prayer submitted to God daily by
many Christians. This would be a great
prayer if the author of the prayer changed his/her ways to do
something differently, in other words repented.
But, most of them do not change and repeat the same prayer over and over
again.
To receive God’s mercy and grace they
are told to repent, be baptized, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Most Christians I
know have done this. But when it comes
to daily repentance to remain in the will of God they fall short. I know because I am one of them who falls short.
After a Christian repents of past
sins and is accepted into the Kingdom of God he/she is a new creature. However,
does God get tired of hearing an apology for not doing what He has commanded if
we do not do anything to change? Sure,
Christians are told if a brother sins against another brother he is to be
forgiven seven times seventy—if the brother repents. But, what if that sin affects the life of an
individual who is going to Hell? The
blood of the unsaved is on the hands of Christians who will not repent.
So, where are they in God’s plan
when they do not repent? A very simple
answer: Out! And this is not preached from the pulpit, not written of in most
books, nor taught in Sunday school.
Jesus made it very clear what would take place if people do not repent
of their sin; “I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the
same way (Luke 13:3 and 13:4).”
He is comparing one group of sinners with another and explaining that
there is no difference. The fault of
teachers, preachers, and authors needs to be recognized for what it is: a
disregard of God’s word. Jesus told His
disciples to go to the end of the world and teach the people all things He had
commanded them (Matthew 28:20). He did
not tell them to change His teachings so they would be more palatable. The truth must be taught.
The definition of “repent” has been
changed by those at the pulpit and by most authors to make more people feel
good about their inadequacies. These
same listeners will also put more money in the offering plate and buy more
books when they can overlook their daily activity of not doing what God has
asked of them. Repent has changed in
meaning from “turning away from doing wrong” to “temporarily feeling badly
about doing wrong.” This may sound
trivial but it is enough to keep an individual from being in God’s will and
receiving His promises, maybe even the promise of eternity with Him. If the learner has not learned the truth then
the teacher has not taught the truth.
Those who do not teach the truth
will be held accountable for the lives of their students. God has given much responsibility to
teachers, preachers, and authors who attempt to teach His word. It is a very serious gift that too many have
taken lightly. The authors are focused
on selling books and not on the truth.
The preachers and teachers are focused on numbers in attendance and not on the
truth. James told us in his epistle that
teachers, which include authors and preachers, will be judged much heavier than
those who are not teachers (James 3:1).
Therefore, this author will teach the truth regardless of stepping on
the toes of those who disregard God and His truth. If I have stepped on your toes then please,
get in touch with me. I will wash your
feet as Jesus washed the feet of those He loved—even the feet of the man who
led the killers to Him.
